Uninspiring Response on First DayWhy Cheat India Box Office Collection | Full Details
Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Why Cheat India' got a mediocre response at the box office on its first day. The film collected a paltry 2 crore at the box office, which is below the expectations. The first day business is less than what we predicted. The film slightly picked up from the evening shows, and ended the day with comparatively better footfalls. The film 'Uri The Surgical Strike', which is in its second week, did far better business than 'Why Cheat India'! The other simultaneous releases this week like, 'Fraud Saiyaan', 'Bombairiya' and 'Rangeela Raja' did worse business than 'Why Cheat India', and had several of their shows cancelled.
'Why Cheat India' did better in Mumbai, and multiplexes performed better than the single screens. But the overall response was below average.
The film should pick up on Saturday and Sunday, to post a healthy weekend total at the box office, otherwise the film will be on its way to become a flop at the box office. And will be another addition to series of flops for Emraan Hashmi at the box office. But going by the initial box office data, 'Why Cheat India' may fail to pick up in the weekend, and might totally crash on Monday.
Cheat India opened to mixed-to-negative reviews from the critics. The initial word-of-mouth reports are leaning towards the negative side, and tomorrow's collection will show a clear picture.
The film is also co-produced by Emraan Hashmi, and is written and directed by Soumik Sen.
