Darbar BARC TRP Rating
'Darbar', the action-drama film featuring actor Rajinikanth in the lead role, had its satellite TV premiere in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages in the month of April 2020. The Malayalam and Kannada versions are awaiting their TV premieres on their respective regional channels. The Hindi version had its TV premiere on Sunday, 5th April 2020; Telugu version TV premiere was held on Friday, 10th April 2020, and Tamil version on Tuesday, 14th April 2020. 'Darbar' was released at the box-office on 09 Jan 2020, and it made its television debut almost three months after its initial theatrical release.
'Darbar' Hindi version's first TV broadcast was done on Star TV network's flagship movie channel, Star Gold. The movie was allotted the afternoon slot of 12 p.m on Sunday, which is usually the case for most of the TV premieres of movies which are expected to score well on TV. 'Darbar' Telugu and Tamil version's first telecasts were done on Sun TV network's Telugu TV channel Gemini TV and Tamil TV channel Sun TV respectively. They were allotted the evening slots of 6:30 p.m on both Gemini TV and Sun TV.
'Darbar' took advantage of the nation-wide lock-down due to COVID-19, as it garnered good viewership during its satellite debut, especially in the Hindi version which recorded the second highest TRP rating for a Hindi movie on its TV premiere in 2020. The best TRP for a Hindi language TV premiere in 2020 is 'Saaho', which was premiered on Zee Cinema on 26 Jan 2020. SEE - Saaho TRP Rating
According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) TV viewership data for week 13, 'Darbar' Hindi garnered around 127.31 lakh viewership impressions on its first telecast on Star Gold, and the Telugu version TV premiere got around 55.95 lakh impressions on Gemini TV. The TRP of Darbar Tamil version on Sun TV is 14593K impressions. The TRP of 'Kanchana 3' repeat telecast in the same week on Sun TV beat the TRP of 'Darbar' by a narrow margin. 'Kanchana 3' scored 15184K impressions.
