But the action, the VFX, and the sheer spectacle on display allow me to forgive many of its faults. Shortcomings notwithstanding, it is the victory of vision. Shankar has shown us that slick special effects blockbusters are very much within our grasp.

  • Times of India | Review By - M Suganth | Rating-3/5
The visual effects, barring a few instances, are competently realised, and the 3D is quite immersive without causing a strain on our eyes.

Despite that tedious climax, 2.0 is a blast. It could have been a smarter film, but it is a mostly fun Rajinikanth ride, with solid 3D and great Atmos sound.

But even for Rajnikanth, pulling this erratic, messy epic out of the fire is no cakewalk. He comes pretty close. Watch 2.0 for its scale and ambition, if not for the superstar who can do no wrong.

  • Indian Express | Review By - Shubhra Gupta | Rating-2/5
2.0 is dull as ditchwater in the first half, perking up a little in the second, with a half-way watchable Akshay, and a Rajini coming into his own right towards the end, for a bit. There are some oh-wow moments, but on the whole, the film is not worth all the sound and fury.

2.0 is a sensory overload. The film has over 2000 special effect shots. It’s the first time that an Indian film has been shot in 3D.  And for the first hour at least, the visuals are hypnotic.

The film is totally paisa vasool and makes for a complete family entertainer. It's production took a lot of time but the wait has been worth it.

2.0 is a film that should be watched for its sheer scale and grandeur. It has a predictable storyline that might come across as a disappointment for many.

2.0 is a cinematic marvel which has the style as well as the substance. The VFX especially during the last 30 minutes is something which has not been watched on Indian screens ever.
