Darshan starrer action drama film, 'Yajamana', released on 1st March (Friday) and took a good start at the Kannada box office. The film collected around ~4.04 crores on its first day at the box office. The film rode on the back of an impressive first day advance booking. The advance booking for Day 1 in Bangalore was around 50% from 395 shows, and Mysore was around 89% from 50 shows (both at the time of our report - 28 FEB, 9:20 PM).

The film had a good pre-release buzz which translated into good first day advance bookings. Mangalore had the least advance bookings (7.8% from 24 shows) among all the major cities in Karnataka. Yajamana ran to packed houses on Day1 at most of the centres in Bangalore, Mysore, Shimoga, Davanagere, Mandya and Tumkur. The film got a lukewarm response in the northern part of Karnataka. And, in rest of Karnataka, the response on Day1 was average. The film had an overall (all regions across Karnataka) occupancy rate of around 55% on Day 1.
Yajamana held well on Day 2 (Saturday), and even had a 5% growth in its collections. Sunday was Yajamana's highest day at the box office. The film grew at around 15% on Sunday (Day 3), and collected around ~4.92 crores, taking the first weekend total to around ~13.21 crores. Yajamana sustained well at the box office on Monday taking advantage of the Mahashivratri holiday.
Yajamana opened to mixed reviews from the critics, and the audience word-of-mouth appeared to be mixed as well, going by the initial reports. Yajamana is directed by V Harikrishna. The film features Darshan and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles.
