Saand Ki Aankh: HIT or FLOP?

Saand Ki Aankh Day 1 Collection Prediction | Analysis

The biographical sports drama, 'Saand Ki Aankh', featuring actresses Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles is releasing this Friday at the box office. The film is in a 3-way clash with two other simultaneous Bollywood movie releases namely, 'Housefull 4' and 'Made In China'. Among the three Bollywood releases this Friday during the Diwali festive season, 'Saand Ki Aankh' is comparatively the smallest film in most of the aspects. In this post, we'll try to analyse the box office prospects of the film and predict the first day box office collection.

Even though the film is the relatively the smallest release this Friday, it is making as much noise as the biggest release, 'Housefull 4'. While the clash itself has given the film a lot of publicity and exposure leading to good audience awareness about the film's release; the film on its own has also fully gone-out to promote as well as possible. And, actually the quieter one among the three is 'Made In China', whose makers seem to have put their bet on the film's content and the audience word-of-mouth. Looks like, 'Saand Ki Aankh' is all set for an opening more than what it could've got had it been a solo release! The clash has very much elevated the stature of the film and has pretty much boosted its box office prospects.

But, even with all of the noise and the buzz that it has generated for itself and perhaps a notable boost it might get in its collections, the opening won't be really that big, and it will still be the lesser collecting film among the three, on Day 1. Because, there are certain innate things about the film which are going to keep the film's first day/first weekend collection within a limited range. First, the film lacks a male lead actor with significant box office pull. The days of female leads getting huge openings at the box office by virtue of their own names or 'stardoms' are still pretty faraway. Second, the genre and content of the film, which pretty much places it in the niche category and hence targets quite a narrow section of the audience. And, 'Saand Ki Aankh' is a pure multiplex film, and most of its box office collections are going to be at the multiplexes. The start will be slightly boosted and yet it will be a sedate start, and will grow at the box office in the later days depending upon the audience word-of-mouth. After the holiday period, it will be the audience response that will make or break this movie at the box office. But, because 'Saan Ki Aankh' is not a big-budget film like 'Housefull 4', it doesn't need to get a huge opening to sustain at the box office. Even an opening of around 2 crores is going to be good, and the film can slowly slog at the box office to reach the success line.

The trailer of the film was quite good, but perhaps not the one that compels you to watch it on the big screen. The trailer actually gives the feeling that it is one of those films that you can catch-up later on the streaming services.

In conclusion, we predict 'Saand Ki Aankh' to collect in around 1-2 crores on its first day at the box office.
