Dunki Critic Reviews & Ratings

Overall, 'Dunki' is a wholesome entertainer that's rousing, relevant, romantic and about returning to your roots.

Dunki does not exactly break boundaries but the route that it takes leads it in the right direction.

In the 161-minute run-time of the Rajkumar Hirani film, I was hard put to find anything that made me feel. Even Shah Rukh Khan’s Hardy comes off as working too hard for not enough pay-off.

Dunki might not be Hirani’s best work in comparison to 3 Idiots or PK, but it still entertains and leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling as you leave the theatre.

  • Rediff | Review By - Sukanya Verma | Rating-2.5/5
Dunki is high on ambition but its flimsy premise renders this nearly three hours long journey into farfetched adventures hard to believe, harder to buy into.

  • The Hindu | Review By - Anuj Kumar | Rating-NA
The purpose and social concern is laudable but the storytelling feels facile and laboured after a point. Overall, not the best of Hirani but has just about enough to make you chuckle and churn.

  • News 18 | Review By - Sonil Dedhia | Rating-4/5
Dunki breaks the monotony and comes as a gush of fresh air. It is heartwarming, cheering, and uplifting reminds you, ‘Sab changa hai.’

Overall, Dunki is a film that leaves you with a tearful smile. And if you couldn't watch Animal with your families for the glorified violence, you must check out Dunki for it's an absolute family entertainer and will be an emotional riot.

  • Firstpost | Review By - Lachmi Deb Roy | Rating-3/5
Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki was entertaining and the concept was good, but lacked depth.

Dunki is probably Hirani's weakest film, because there’s at once too much of Hirani, and not enough of him.

  • DNA | Review By - Abhimanyu Mathur | Rating-3/5
Dunki is Rajkumar Hirani’s most intense film. It has much more heart and much less action than what was shown in the trailer.

It’s one of those mellowed storylines which you usually see in some of those feel-good Christmas films.

Dunki is thoughtfully, cheerful, brilliantly acted, and has the most powerful music of the year.

In the absence of compelling character arcs or a halfway realistic depiction of the complications involved in transporting humans across borders, the movie never travels below the surface.

Dunki bears the Rajkumar Hirani stamp of filmmaking with the right message and emotions as a backdrop.
