Love Aaj Kal 2 Box Office Notes

Opening Note - 'Love Aaj Kal' took a good opening on the occasion of Valentines Day which is known to boost the ticket sales, especially if the film is youth-oriented. We saw that last year with 'Gully Boy' which had taken a surprising opening of 19.5 crores. 'Love Aaj Kal' has taken an opening of around 10.75 crores, and the film is now the highest opening movie in actor Karthik Aaryan's career. His previous best was 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' with Day-1 collection of 8.25 crores. 'Love Aaj Kal' could've opened better than its current opening of 10.75 crores, but the film pretty much went flat from the evening shows and didn't show the growth it should have shown. Delhi NCR performed the best on Day 1 as it collected around 2.35 crores. The film opened to mixed-to-negative reviews from the critics, and the audience word-of-mouth is not encouraging either. 'Love Aaj Kal' is looking at quite a big fall tomorrow, we if go by the film's trending in the evening and night shows.

Day 2 (Saturday) Collection: 'Love Aaj Kal' took pretty much a sharp fall on Saturday, where ideally it should've grown or at least collected in the same range as Friday. The film saw an overall drop of around 35% in its collection on Day 2, which is alarming, and indicates the bad word-of-mouth the film is carrying. In Delhi NCR, the film fell by 45%, as it collected around 1.30 crores on Day 2 as opposed to 2.35 crores on Day 1. 'Love Aaj Kal' collected around 7.00 crores on Saturday, which takes the overall two days total to 17.75 crores. The film looks to drop further even on Sunday, as the advance bookings for Sunday are lower than Saturday. 'Love Aaj Kal' will mostly be finished on Monday, and is on its way to be the biggest flop so far in this year.

Day 3 Sunday Collection: 'Love Aaj Kal' pretty much stayed the same on Sunday. The film collected around 6.85 crores on its third day, which is slightly less than Saturday. The first weekend collection of 'Love Aaj Kal' is 24.60 crores, which is less than the film of the same name that released almost 11 years ago. Delhi NCR saw another 10-15% fall on Sunday, and the first weekend collection in Delhi NCR is around 4.80 crores. This film will be on a free-fall mode from Monday, and will lose almost all of its screens to the new releases this coming Friday.

Day 4 Monday Collection: 'Love Aaj Kal' is down and out on Monday, as its disastrous trending at the box-office has led to a total crash on its 4th day. The film won't be able survive past week-1 at the office, and it is already the biggest failure of 2020. 'Love Aaj Kal' has collected around 27.10 crores from its 4 days run at the ticket counters.

1st Week Collection: 'Love Aaj Kal' fell down heavily after its first weekend, and the cracks were visible on Day-1 itself when the film failed to pick-up in the evening and the night shows. The film dropped in the weekend days itself, and the fall was particularly heavy on Monday, which sealed the fate of 'Love Aaj Kal'. The movie collected around 33.30 crores in Week-1, and it won't be able add much to this total in Week-2 as most of its screens will be taken away by the new releases 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' and 'Bhoot Part 1: The Haunted Ship'.

2nd Friday Collection Update: 'Love Aaj Kal' suffered another big fall at the box office on its second Friday, as it collected a meagre 45 lakhs, which is lower than the 3rd Friday collection of 'Malang'. The Maha Shivratri holiday on Friday couldn't come to the aid of the film as the audience completely ignored the film, specially in the wake of the new releases. The movie, so far, has collected 33.75 crores from its eight days run.

2nd Weekend Collection: 'Love Aaj Kal' collected a dismal 1.55 crores in its second weekend at the box office, which is around 90-95% fall when compared to first weekend collection. 'Malang', in its third weekend, managed to collect almost a crore more than 'Love Aaj Kal'. After the heavy fall on 2nd Friday, the film stayed pretty much flat on 2nd Saturday and 2nd Sunday. The total till date is around 34.85 crores.

2nd Week Collection Update: 'Love Aaj Kal' collected around 2.35 crores in Week-2, which almost 95% decline in collections when compared to first week. The film miserably crashed-and-burned at the box office.
