'Bala', the comedy-drama film featuring actor Ayushman Khurana in the lead role of a prematurely balding young man, made its television debut on Sunday 16 February 2020, which is more than three months after its initial release at the cinemas. The film was released at the box-office on 7 Nov 2019, and went on to become a 'HIT'.
'Bala's first TV broadcast was done on Star TV network's flagship movie channel, Star Gold. The movie was allotted the afternoon slot of 12 p.m on Sunday. 'Bala' is the top movie program of the week with most number of impressions, which is followed by the World TV Premiere of Hindi dubbed southern film 'iSmart Shamkar'.

On its World TV Premiere, 'Bala' generated quite a good response from the TV audience. According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), 'Bala' gathered around 56.78 lakh viewership impressions on its first telecast on Star Gold. In comparison, Ayushman Khurana's 'Dream Girl' had got 47.76 lakh impressions, Ranveer Singh's 'Gully Boy' had got 52.08 lakh impressions and Akshay Kumar's 'Mission Mangal' had got 56.96 lakh impressions on their respective TV premieres.
